OIKOS houses meet MODULARITY
Modular construction is special because it is mobile. The greatest advantage of modular construction is that the final structure is not permanently connected to the ground and it doesn’t need building permits under certain construction laws. This is also an immense advantage if the land is subject to an agreement for use. The building owner does not necessarily have to own the ground.
OIKOS houses meet MOBILITY
Modules can be set up anywhere and later separated from the plot, resold or combined with other modules. The module can be simply reused, added to another module or dismantled into its individual boards, which could then be reused. Timber modules have the great advantage of being relatively light, which means we can place them on top of existing flat-roofed buildings. The global society is in motion so the importance of a mobile living or working place is becoming ever greater. The modular OIKOS house can repurposed, used several times and combined in different ways. It can evolve together with the owner.
OIKOS houses meet SUSTAINABILITY
The growing need for sustainable and environmentally compatible buildings led us to rediscover the value of building with wood. Its characteristics as a renewable raw material, as a healthy, versatile and flexibly combinable building material, ensure that building and living with wood will become far more widespread. Wood is also gaining popularity for its aesthetic qualities and has all the advantages that are valued today and will be in the future: healthy indoor climate, a high feel-good factor, modern design and an energy-conscious method of construction.
OIKOS houses meet MINDFULNESS
For the future health of our cities and our planet, we need to think not just in terms of age-friendly cities, resilient cities and ecological cities, but above all in terms of mindful cities. The aim of mindfulness in this context is to achieve a holistic vision of the city, whereby cities approach design, building and planning of the urban landscape though a careful choice of mindful materials such as wood.
