We care deeply for the future of our planet, which is why we only use specially selected suppliers that use sustainable resources.
When it comes to materials, OIKOS structure and details speak for themselves. Simplicity and minimalism design with high-end architecture.
Timber-frame and cross laminated timber (CLT) construction is used in OIKOS buildings. This is a modern, eco-friendly and sustainable approach. Timber houses boast an excellent environmental footprint with outstanding energy efficiency and are also exceedingly healthy to live in. OIKOS buildings are characterised above all by an excellent indoor climate and comfortable feel-good ambience.
OIKOS walls are state-of-the-art itself in the interior of the OIKOS building. They are natural and represent exclusive beauty with highest architectural value and sense of comfort. They are made of European and Nordic spruce and are 100% formaldehyde-free. As a natural raw material wood is highly durable and breathable. It is also a natural insulator and regulates the climate inside the OIKOS house.
Oikos is using an eco-friendly combination of wood insulation together with effective cellulose insulation for reaching best results for cold and warm climates. For additional insulation and greater protection for moisture penetration OIKOS is covered with wood fibre plates which are made of wood of conifers and are completely natural product, which does not contain formaldehyde. They comply with all requirements of high ecological standards and with the German technical approval certificate Z-9.1-382 and the European standard DIN EN14964.
The OIKOS exterior timber-clad façade offers uniqueness to each project and a pure vision of beauty. Shou Sugi Ban or so-called Yakisugi is a Japanese technique in which coniferous wood is burned on one side, which offers good protection against insects and fungus. The house also no longer has to be painted. Each log is brushed and oiled by hand.
Concrete has become a noble material and the latest architectural fashion trend. OIKOS architects have specially selected unique concrete furniture pieces in the house. The handcrafted snow-white concrete kitchen counter top, bathroom sink, shower and floor are the imprint of modern architecture.
Windows and doors
Large wood-framed windows provide the OIKOS house with natural light and connect the outdoor environment with the indoor space. Triple-glazed windows, which provide excellent thermal and sound insulation, are a suitable solution for low-energy construction. Wooden entrance doors offer safety and comfort in all OIKOS houses.
Oikos houses are heated with emission-free infrared panels, which are controlled through a touch screen panel. A heating regulator changes your IR heating system into the most accurate, responsive and comfortable way of heating. It helps to optimise use and saves energy. IR heating costs are 60% lower than with electric convection heaters.
Light influences our mood and behaviour. Lights integrated in each Oikos house are especially selected by our architects and are from the well-known Belgian manufacturer Wever & Ducre and Scandinavian manufacturer Muuto. Besides standard lighting, you can always set the right ambience for any moment with ambient lighting, which is installed in all rooms. Not too bright and not too dark, it should be just right.
